There’s something magical about fall. “September is the January in fashion.” September is when school starts, and who can forget the feeling of a clean slate and a fresh notebook? I love the delightful image that Joe Fox (Tom Hanks’ character in You’ve Got Mail) gives us: a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils. It makes me want to travel to NYC every September (and that was before I even knew what Fashion Week was). In the spirit of fall, I purchased a Moleskin planner after years of relying on a digital calendar and couldn’t help but feel like my new chapter is finally starting. Now that I’m living in a city in which the temperature will actually drop below 60 before December, I’m even more excited to ring in the fall with beloved booties, defined patterns, deeper colors, and cozy sweaters. I know how much everyone loves summer, but here is your fall style inspiration. These 6 looks will make you pray for a cooler climate.

When we founded The Single Diaries a year ago, we had no idea we wouldn’t be in the same city so soon. (Don’t tell me I’ve never been in a long-distance relationship.) Separation anxiety aside, we are finding one major plus to working out of two different major cities: more wine bars to frequent, more neighborhoods to explore, more dishes to discover! In honor of our new status as a bi-city blog, we bring you our favorite mainstays from San Francisco and Los Angeles.

6 Tips to Capture Your Picture Perfect Vacation

    Perfect-Vacation

When I sat down to create my vision board at the start of the year, “Be More Creative” was one of the goals that topped my list of 2014 resolutions. For me, part of accomplishing this goal meant becoming more familiar with the DSLR camera I’d purchased. Fortunately, the year has afforded plenty of reason to flex my newly forming photography muscles. The most recent of which was the trip to Cannes and Vienna from which I’ve just returned.

In the days leading up to the trip I kept my “DSLRs for Dummy” book by my bedside to brush up on my beginner photographer skills. Then, camera in hand as we jet set across Europe, I set out to capture the perfect vacation pics. Though I still have a great deal to learn, I’ve picked up a few basic skills from which any camera-happy single girl could benefit.

Whether you’ve got a vacation of your own coming up or would simply like to pick up a few new tricks, here are 6 tips to help you capture your favorite days in the most memorable of ways.

Right before the official start of summer, Jen rounded up some of our favorite things of the season—a list of to-do’s and items to make your summer more festive. This year we’ve emphasized the importance of goals, but if you’re like us and your world has recently been turned upside down (hopefully for the better) you may have lost track of what you set out to do in 2014. At the end of January, we took a look at your Single Girl Goals and shared some themes that resonated throughout your boards. We love to celebrate victories big and small (heck, we love to find the celebration in everything!), so I found another great excuse for you. Read on for challenges you can set for yourself this month, inspired by your 2014 goals, before our season of sun is over… then pat yourself on the back for your tiny wins.
