Why She's the Toast of the Town

One year ago I found myself suffering from serious FOMO. My Instagram feed was blowing up with pictures of this amazing conference, (yes I just put the words amazing and conference together) and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t known about it. What was this event that had me cursing my luck? Create & Cultivate – a conference designed for female entrepreneurs in the digital space. And the creative genius behind the event, none other than Jaclyn Johnson.

Jaclyn is like the girl boss of girl bosses. She knows what we want – Instagram worthy spaces, inspiring female voices, a way to connect with other girls like us – and has served it up to us in a way we couldn’t have even imaged was possible. And we aren’t the only ones taking notice of this toast of the town. Jaclyn has been named Forbes 30 Under 30, A Woman of Note by the Wall Street Journal and 25 most stylish Angelenos by StyleCaster just for starters.

During this year’s event I made sure my FOMO was no more and made sure I was in attendance at Create & Cultivate’s Los Angeles event. Lucky for me, not only did I get to attend but I also had the chance to interview many of the women entrepreneurs and presenters there including Jaclyn. Check out our interview below for her success story and best advice!

    Get to Know Hatch Studios

The new home of Toast Meets Jam!

You guys, I really can’t explain how excited I am to share this news with you. Hatch Studios is officially the new home of Toast Meets Jam. Founded by husband and wife team Peter and Amanda, Hatch is a boutique co-working space located in West Los Angeles. Unlike the stiff environments presented by most co-working spaces, Hatch is beautifully designed to make it’s residents feel right at home.

    Why move to Hatch?

First, a lot of you have written in to say that while you love the idea of hosting the interviews over brunch,  shooting on location was making the audio pretty challenging. I wanted to make sure you all knew I heard and really appreciated the feedback.

Second, I couldn’t pass up the chance to support another female founder. When I met Amanda I knew it was a perfect match! You’ll have to look out for our interview together to learn about this wonder woman’s entrepreneurial journey.

The Travel Host | An Interview with Host & Executive Producer of Rhythm Abroad, Brittany Pierce

Finding Your Rhythm Abroad with Brittany Pierce

In this episode of Toast Meets Jam I caught up with Brittany Pierce, the host and executive producer behind the dance-centric travel series, Rhythm Abroad. We decided to meet at one of my favorite Brentwood spots, Coral Tree Cafe. While we drank in our lattes, Brittany shared the journey she’s been on from her first international trip to becoming the creator of her own travel series on PBS.

After graduating college, Brittany began her career as a reporter for  Channel 4 San Diego. However, it wasn’t long before  she was called to pursue her love for travel. When the opportunity to join another network as a travel host failed to present itself, she took matters into her own hands. Living by her motto to “lead by faith, not by sight” Brittany set out to create a show of her own.

The PR Maven | An Interview with Vilte Co. Founder Vilte Holstad

Paris, PR, & Paving Your Own Way with VilteCo. Founder Vilte S. Holstad

In this episode of Toast Meets Jam I caught up with Vilte S. Holstad, the founder behind the PR creative VilteCo. Our brunch of choice was Sunny Spot, a favorite of ours here in Venice. As we dug into our delish dishes, she took me on her journey from moving to Paris to founding her own PR company.

After graduating from college with a degree in design, Vilte began working in various PR roles both with small and large brands. Her desire to expand into other aspects of the industry drew her to Paris where she worked with a French designer and covered Paris Fashion Week.Upon Vilte’s return to the states, it didn’t take long for her to realize she was ready to step out on her own. It was then that the idea for VilteCo. first came to life.

VilteCo. is a boutique PR creative with a focus on traditional outreach, social media management, and blogger placement. Though open to companies of all sizes, the creative is especially drawn to working with startups in the LA area.

The Songstress| An Interview with Singer/ Songwriter Missy Modell

Finding Your Beat with Singer/Songwriter Missy Modell

In this episode of Toast Meets Jam I caught up with singer/songwriter Missy Modell at one of our favorite LA hot spots- Axe. As we dug into our very Venice Basic Bowls, she caught me up on her pursuit of a career in the music industry.

At the age of 24 Missy had already established herself as a singer on the rise. Self described as the “Rihanna to an Eminem soundtrack” she had found her beat touring college campuses with other up and coming artists. Fast forward a few years and this leading lading has declared it time to pave a new path–this time one that provides a true reflection of her unabashed, fun, beautiful self.

She talks with me about her  musical journey, the process of self discovery, and why it’s time for her to take center-stage.
