6 mugs to help you set your daily intention

I love rituals. Because I’m not a morning person, I came up with a few rituals to make them a little easier. One awesome piece of advice I heard recently from Arianna Huffington is to consciously avoid your phone or media as you wake up so you can set your intention for yourself every morning. When you start your day by reading emails or articles before you give yourself a few breaths, you allow someone else to set the tone of your day.

It takes a lot of discipline to achieve this, but while you’re practicing grab a physical reminder of what you set out to do every day. Here are 6 inspirational mugs to give you a daily reminder of the path you want to take. While I encouraged everyone to start their morning with a slow cup of tea, I love me a café au lait or a dirty chai latte. Pour up your caffeinated beverage of choice, and let your mug be your guide.

  • The Secret to Unlocking Happiness

    The Secret to Unlocking Happiness

Contributor Rachel Priest Shares her Secret to Finding Happiness

    happiness
What does it take to unlock happiness? I’m here to teach you what I’ve learned about doing just that. But before we get into all of that let’s get real for a second. Life isn’t always full of happiness. Sometimes life can be really difficult and for no apparent reason. Sometimes it feels like the universe is having a good laugh at our expense. Personally, I can think of  many of these times. Times when I’ve given myself a headache from the severe frown I’ve had stretched across my face. Times when I’ve just wanted to throw in the towel and give up because I’ve felt helpless against the challenges life had thrown my way.

As with everything in life, there are two sides to this story. On one side is the lesson that we must accept these challenges and the negative feelings that come with them as a part of life. This will never change. But I’m not here to dwell on that side of the story. I’m here to share with you the lessons I’ve learned about the other side–the side of the story that teaches us how to unlock happiness.

  • What We Can All Learn About Living from the Regrets of the Dying

What We Can All Learn About Living from the Regrets of the Dying

A self-reflection inspired by Bronnie Ware’s Regrets of the Dying

    regrets-of-the-dying

Last week, my mom shared an article with me from Australian author Bronnie Ware titled Regrets of the Dying written by. Based on the somewhat morbid title, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I clicked through the link. What I found, was a surprisingly insightful reflection on the meaning of life and the path to true happiness. Bronnie’s narrative made me stop and consider the choices I was making in my life. She had me wondering if I would end up the way many of her patients had, full of regrets, or if I was doing things the “right way”.

I was so inspired and moved by the article that I felt compelled to share it with all of you. I encourage you all to read this repost of her original article and to use it for your own self-reflection. In Bonnie’s words, remember:

“Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.”

The Adventurer | An Interview with Liza Tagliati of Boarding for Breast Cancer

Living Your Passion with Action Sports Aficionado Liza Tagliati

In this episode of Toast Meets Jam, I catch up with Liza Tagliati, marketing manager for Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) a non-profit foundation dedicated to providing breast cancer education, prevention and support programs for young people and the action sports community at large.

Liza studied Biology at the University of San Diego though soon realized that pursuing a career in medicine wasn’t her life’s calling. After graduation, she took a year off before getting her Master’s Degree in Marketing  to work at a ski resort in Tahoe and soon came to realize that she wanted her love for boarding to become her career.

She talks with me about how she was able to take her passion for sports and make it part of her life every day– both in and out of the office– and offers her advice to other young women who are looking to do the same.

For more from Liza you can catch her sharing her best boarding tips on Dirtbag Darling where she serves as their snow ambassador or follow her on Instagram @LizaTags.

A Toast to you and Liza too,

    Jen
