Catherine shares her must-haves for fall
One of the worst things about being out of school (aside from bills and adult responsibilities) is the absence of back-to-school shopping. Who doesn’t love a new notebook and a fresh start? Though school’s been back in session for well over a month, I’m just now feeling summer drift into memory. With that, I also feel a little more motivation, a little more inspiration. Here are the things on my fall wish list to aid in tapping into that creativity.
Clockwise from top left:
TOMS Paseo Highs, $114
All the girls are reaching for their boots, but why not mix it up with new high-tops? We are huge fans of everything TOMS, and their latest Paseo design will give you major street cred. Ever since Chanel sent sneakers down the runway, the fashion set is ditching heels for footwear that’s a little more grounded. What’s more grounded than a brand that gives back?
MOLESKIN Classic Soft Cover Notebook, $19
Nothing says back to business like a serious notebook. Moleskin is the queen of serious notebooks, and many say you feel a little more inspired when writing in one. As an English writing major, I carried a notebook wherever I went; knowing one is always within reach seems to encourage you to find inspiration in just about anything.
BOSCIA Black Collection on Sephora, $39
With the change of weather and the absence of regular sunshine (I now live in Fog City after all), not to mention the slow aging process, I know my skin will be asking for extra TLC to achieve a healthy glow in the coming months. I have been looking for a good face mask, and I know that I need to start becoming more serious about exfoliating, so finding this exclusive set from Boscia on Sephora is a dream.
OLLOCLIP 4-in-1 Lens for iPhone, $70
The vivid summer colors may be fading, but the rich reds and browns of autumn have arrived. Ditch the filters and try a new lens to change up your Instagram game. This Olloclip is a 4-in-1 lens that offers wide angle, fisheye, and macro lenses for capturing the subdued details of the new season.
VOLUSPA Scalloped Edge Glass Candle, $20
While it may have been too hot to burn a flame just a month ago, October brings the perfect weather for warming up a room with your favorite candles. Voluspa is tried and true, and this iteration of the popular French Cade Lavender scent comes in scalloped edge glass. Can you say “on trend”?
FRENDS Taylor Headphones, $200
My number one source of concentration while writing is music, and now that I regularly call a cafe an “office,” I’m never without headphones. Frends is all the rage, and this black and gold set could be a great conversation starter instead of a “Do Not Disturb” sign when I’m at the communal table.
WARBY PARKER Goodney, $95
I’m overdue for a new pair of spectacles, and I’ve had my eye on Warby Parker for years. (As you can tell, I’m a sucker for a cool company that gives back.) With the launch of their fall collection and the capsule Corner collection, now is the time. Their new fall shapes were built for those who exercise their wit and add life to the party. While that clearly means every superbly single girl, I’m leaning towards something more distinctive (because I wasn’t brave enough to get a fall bob). Enter Goodney in a subtly sassy rhubarb hue.
