January is coming to an end. Are you closer to your goals for the year? We were amazed by your vision boards on Pinterest. We looked over each and every entry, and a few really stood out to us. Ultimately, the winning board personifies our definition of the Single Girl and exemplifies the qualities through the single girl goals she set for herself. Her tremendous effort in her organization, the well-roundedness of her vision, and allowing her personality to shine through was not lost on us.

Visit our Facebook page to find out who won (and Like us while you’re at it!).

We noticed some themes woven throughout many boards. More adventure, more reading, more calm. We are all seeking to be our best selves, and we hope you can continue to find inspiration through our posts. Here are what other superbly single girls are aiming to do this year. February is a new beginning; what do you want to do?

Goal: “Seriously… read more. At least 10 books this year.”

Each of our favorite boards mentioned a desire to read more. We agree! Reading is one way to ensure you always have something to talk about. It transports. It transforms. It teaches. Looking for suggestions to get started? Here’s my list!

Goal: “Start taking yoga classes.”

We continually seek calm in our chaotic schedules. Yoga and guided meditation are the most common ways to do this. One of the simplest, but most significant, lessons we learn from yoga is to breathe. Counter the stress and the endless work with deep breaths and restorative poses. Reread my interview with yoga teacher Megan D’Amico about how her practice has reinvigorated her energy and reformed her life philosophy.

Goal: “Eat healthier.”

We recognize that health is an important part of our happiness, so we are making better choices by creating an active lifestyle and eating cleaner. For many of us good food is a way to enjoy life, but everything in moderation. Take control of temptation with a refresher in Sarah Di Grazia’s guide.

Goal: “Spend time with my besties.”

Our close girlfriends are spread out throughout the country, even around the world. Now is the time to nurture our friendships by sharing our experiences and our adventures. If you haven’t seen your best friends in a while, pick up the phone and plan a fun day on a budget. If you can’t catch up in person, check out Jen’s ideas for other ways to show you care.

Goal: “Coffee and catching up with Mom.”

As we grow up, our relationships with our parents evolve. We are becoming more ourselves, and we are starting to recognize the tendencies and mannerisms we take after them, as well as the lessons we unintentionally learned along the way. Most of have moved away from our families so when you’re together, put away your phones and let go of the frustration that we so easily fall into. Your parents are likely happy simply for the hours together, but remind yourself how valuable time really is for all of you… and be fully present.

Goal: “We must take adventures in order to know where we truly belong.”

We want to see the world. We want to wander so that we can find what we don’t even know we’re looking for. We don’t have to go far to achieve this. Here’s Lara Torii’s story on how venturing outward led her inward (though she did cross an ocean). Take a road trip to a city you’ve never been to but always wanted to see. Revisit your hometown. Let your friend plan a day in your neighborhood from their perspective. Get creative, and see your world through fresh eyes.

Goal: “It’s time to start living.”

We have to experience, but we have to reflect. Eat yummy food, but work hard to get the body you want.  We want to party, but we must also recenter. Take yourself seriously, but don’t forget to laugh until your belly hurts. Spend time building your future. Spend time enjoying the company of everyone you love. Never waste time worrying about anything out of your control. Dance to remember. Dance to forget. It’s time to start living.
