Black tie. Semi formal. With the shift in the role of fashion in our everyday life and dress code vastly left up to interpretation, it can be confusing when your wedding invitation is stamped with the event’s two-word guideline. Thanks to The Knot, we’ve decoded what each one means… and found options under $100 for all your weddings this season.

A gift guide of books for the mothers on your list

My love of books no doubt stems from my parents. I had my first library card before I started school (my “signature” definitely looks like I had just learned how to write my name). Some of my fondest childhood memories include my mom bringing me to the library and letting me peruse the children’s room for hours. When I started reading more substantial literature, my mom encouraged me to inscribe my name and the date I finished each book on the inside cover. What a charming way to look back years later and consider your “journey” when you first read a novel! Unfortunately, I fell out of this practice once reading for pleasure was a thing of the past (read high school and college required reading lists). I think it’s time to bring it back. Mother’s Day is such a special time to honor the women in your life, and I find there’s no better gift than just the right book. A personalized note is just as extraordinary an inscription… and a beautiful reminder of where the book came from. Here are six of the latest titles to consider for Mother’s Day.

In an era when going to the movies means a nearly $20 per person outing on the weekends, television has made a comeback with great writing and notable cinematography. In an era when DVR is the norm and most of us skip through commercials, when we stay home to watch 10 episodes in a row and not feel bad about it, everyone is looking for their next binge on Netflix. All of us know the uber popular original series House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, but who has the patience to wait for the next season? We want to stream and know how stories end on our schedule. Luckily, Netflix is a black hole of streaming pleasure, but where to begin? No matter how many shows you rate, there will always be ones you forget and won’t show up under “suggestions.” There are the addicting Breaking Bad and Lost, but wait… there’s more! Here are seven canceled shows that deserve a second look.

I will admit I am a full-blown beauty junkie. I love trying out all kinds of products and playing with different looks. I’m also very lucky to work in the beauty industry, where playing with and changing up your look is always encouraged! However, no matter how much fun I’m having playing around with my item of the week, I will always return to my must-have products. And guess what? Most of them come from my local CVS or Walgreens! Don’t get me wrong: I love pillaging Sephora like the next gal, but there’s nothing like a great, reliable product that is easily accessible while also being easy on your wallet.
