Up Next on Toast Meets Jam – Ann Wang & Jessica Willison!

An Interview with Ann Wang & Jessica Willison, Founders of Enrou

Coming up next on Toast Meets Jam… Ann Wang & Jessica Willison, founders of Enrou.

How much thought do you put into the products that you buy? Do you stop to consider whose hands sewed the shirt you’re wearing? Ever wonder where the fabric in the sheets on your bed came from? Or given a second thought to where the money you’ve handed over for your latest purchase is actually going?

These are questions that Ann Wang & Jessica Willison are hoping they can get you to stop and think about. These two young women are founders of Enrou, an online marketplace for one-of-a-kind, handmade goods that empower developing communities around the world.  By providing a central hub of socially responsible brands, Enrou seeks to generate tangible ways for consumers to leave a positive social and financial impact around the world.

It’s their mission to help our generation become more conscious consumers. By channeling our everyday purchases into purposeful investments, their goal is to redefine consumerism by making the global market one brimming with opportunity — for all.

To find out more about the building of Enrou, I met Ann and Jess at Cafe Gratitude in Venice. Cafe Grat is a plant-based LA favorite where you can stop in for organic vegan fair along with a side of self reflection. With dishes named after motivational mantras like I am terrific you’re sure to leave full in every sense of the word. First timer tips– make sure to ask your server for the question of the day and leave plenty of room for one of their raw desserts.

Want to learn how these ladies have grown Enrou from idea to a thriving business in just under a year? Check back to watch our full interview and make sure to subscribe to Toast Meets Jam so you’re sure to catch all the latest episodes.

Up Next on Toast Meets Jam – Michelle Edgar!

An Interview with Michelle Edgar, Founder and CEO The XX Project

Coming up next on Toast Meets Jam… Michelle Edgar,  founder and CEO of The XX Project.

Imagine getting the chance to sit down and enjoy dinner alongside some of today’s top female entrepreneurs and  business leaders. Women like StyleHaul’s founder Stephanie Horbaczewski, GE’s CMO Beth Comstock, and journalist Soledad O’Brian. That would pretty amazing right?

Michelle Edgar thinks so too. As the strategic business development director for FRUKT and founder of the non-profit organization Music Unites , she recognized a need in the market to connect professional and entrepreneurial women. Her answer to that need was The XX Project, an invitation-only group for professional women who are leaders and mentors in their industries.

At the heart of The XX Project is an intimate monthly dinner series which brings members together for a night of conversation with some of today’s strongest and most inspiring female leaders.  But this is just the beginning. Through The XX Project, Michelle’s mission is to build an offline and online social platform that fosters inspiration, mentoring and giving back among professional, dynamic & successful women in their late 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.

Michelle and I met at Tom’s on Abbot Kinney in Venice. This hipsters’ haven serves as both the brand’s flagship store as well as one of the best coffee shops on the block. Come here any time of day, any day of the week and you’ll find the place crowded with freelancers turning the place into their makeshift offices. The comfy outdoor couches, free wi-fi, and delicious coffee and pastries are quite the draw for everyone, myself included.

Over our coffees Michelle shared how The XX Project first came to life and her big vision for where she sees it growing in the future. Powered by passion, a real desire to help, and a true confidence in what’s she building, Michelle is ready to take The XX to the next level.

To find out what all she has in store, watch our full interview and make sure to subscribe to Toast Meets Jam so you’re sure to catch all the latest episodes.

Up Next on Toast Meets Jam – Brittney Castro!

An Interview with Brittney Castro, Founder of Financially Wise Women

Coming up next on Toast Meets Jam… Brittney Castro,  founder of Financially Wise Women.

Have you ever found yourself avoiding your bank account, too afraid of what you might find? Crossed your fingers as you’re swiping your credit card at the end of the month, hoping it won’t be declined? Sometimes does it just seem easier to ignore your money and hope for the best than confront it head on? Trust me, I know that feeling!

Brittney is on a mission to change that. She’s out to help women have a healthy relationship with their money so they can start living the life of their dreams. Through her online Money Class, one-on-one financial planning, YouTube channel, and speaking engagements she aims to make financial fear a thing of the past. With a fun, innovative approach to teaching that’s catered to the professional, entrepreneurial woman, she’s turning finance into as sexy a topic as fashion and beauty.

To give me the low down on the founding of her business, Brittney met me at The Springs LA, where I’d filmed an earlier interview with another awesome female founder. We sipped on horchata and fresh pressed juice while she filled me in on the evolution of her business, her advice for other female founders, and how building a business has lead her to the life of her dreams.

Check out this quick peak into our interview and come back next week for the full reveal!

    Cheers!

Up Next on Toast Meets Jam – Rachael King!

An Interview with Rachael King, Head of Communications for DogVacay

Coming up next on Toast Meets Jam… Rachael King,  the Head of Communications for DogVacay.

The goal of Toast Meets Jam is to inspire and empower you to pursue your passions. Often this means stepping out on your own and building your vision from the ground up rather than following a traditional career path. For this reason, most of the interview guest are female entrepreneurs.

On this episode of Toast Meets Jam however, I interview a guest who’s entrepreneurial spirit has taken her a different route. Rachael King is the Head of Communications for DogVacay, one of today’s hottest startups. It’s a role that she enthusiastically refers to as her dream job, as would many young women who’s interests also lie in the industry. Though her journey did not lead her to building her own business, it is one of an entrepreneur none the less.

From sitting behind a desk at a lackluster administrative job to competing to become MTV’s first Twitter Jockey to building the famous “Pinterest Resume”, Rachael’s pursuit of her passion is quite the unique tale. Check back in to catch our conversation over green juices and avocado toasts at Gracias Madre.

For anyone who wants to find their way into a career in social media, this is an interview not to be missed!

    Cheers!

  • Up Next on Toast Meets Jam – Pace Webb!

Up Next on Toast Meets Jam – Pace Webb!

An Interview with Pace Webb, chef & lifestyle expert behind Taste of Pace

Coming up next on Toast Meets Jam… Pace Webb,  the chef and lifestyle expert behind Taste of Pace.

I remember as clear as day the first time I met Pace. She was decked out in a fantastic yellow print dress and wearing the most “catch-me-if-you-can” color of pink lipstick. I knew I liked her before even getting introduced.

If you’ve ever encountered Pace you know just how irresistible she can be. Her kick-ass outfit drew me in but as soon as we got to talking I could see that her personality was just as colorful. You can’t help but want to hang with this vivacious lady.

Though she earns high marks for her sense of fashion, Pace’s real talents come to life in the kitchen. She is the founder of the catering company Taste of Pace, the host of an invite-only supper club, and a regular TV personality for various food and lifestyle media including Oprah’s OWN Network.

This time around we mixed things up a bit and held our interview at my house in Venice. I wanted to introduce Pace to one of my favorite new brunch spots, Gjusta, but their set-up was less than ideal for filming. Instead, we grabbed a box of pastries to go and brunched take-away style.

Over our baklava croissoints Pace and I talk about the founding of her company, her evolution from chef to TV personality, and why dessert just doesn’t get any better than chocolate cake. Make sure to check back next week to catch the full interview!

    Cheers!
