Thanksgiving Decor Roundup

Your Go-to Guide to Get Your Home Thanksgiving Ready

We’re very excited to host our very first Single Diaries Friendsgiving this weekend. Not only will we celebrate Thanksgiving but we will also be commemorating The Single Diaries three-month anniversary. (Yay!) We couldn’t imagine a better way to honor the milestone than to bring together and thank many of the friends who have helped the site get off the ground.

The festive soiree will be hosted at my new apartment, a two-story townhouse with a large open living room area perfect for gathering a crowd. The only thing needed to turn the space into a haven of hospitality is a few decorative touches.

In hunt of some festive flare, I dug around to find my favorite Thanksgiving decorations and easy DIY crafts that I can easily pull together this week. If you’re hosting your own Friendsgiving event or simply looking to add some Autumn accessories to your space, you’ll find some good use for this Thanksgiving decor roundup!

Candles

Candles have an amazing way of transforming a space from “ho-hum” to “hoorah”! Mix and match ones that have a warm seasonal scent like these from Yankee Candle with others that come in adorable votives like these from Bath and Body works.

Throw Pillows

Invite guests to take a seat with seasonal throw pillows in fall colors and patterns like these from Target. They are an easy and inexpensive way to change the look of a room.

Filled Vases

An easy and cheap trick to creating your own festive decorations is to fill glass vases with dried fruit, beans, seeds, and leaves in seasonal colors. Pick up filler from your grocery, craft store, or your own front yard. Top filled vases off with fresh flowers or a yummy smelling candle.

Garland

Have a mantel, mirror, or wall that needs a little zest? Adorn it with a homemade garland that reminds guests of the reason for the season. Use this DIY pattern which can be printed out from home or this tutorial to create a unique spin on your own garland with only paper, glue, and string needed to assemble.

Pom Poms

Nothing could be simpler and cuter than putting together these tissue paper pom poms. Search for fall colors and patterns at a party store and watch Kin Community’s quick DIY for the technique.

Gourdes

Nothing says fall like a good gourde. Hollow out the center of a few small ones to turn them into candle votives or tie a tag to the stems to turn them into placeholders. Voila! A great decoration!

Soaps & Lotions

Don’t forget to accent your bathrooms with scrumptious smelling seasonal soaps and lotions like these from Bath & Body Works and Pier 1 Imports. Your guests will be inspired to wash up and will carry the air of autumn with them as they mingle through your party.

Planning to host a Friendsgiving and have your own decorating tips of your own to share? We’d love to hear how you’re preparing to celebrate!
